The association 7Oceans is committed to the preservation of the world's oceans. Raising awareness of the 7 major ocean problems is the main goal of this project.
Christian Redl, initiator of the project, is a multiple world record holder in freediving. He has been diving around the world and is fascinated by the beauty of the underwater world. It is therefore a matter close to his heart to work for the preservation of the oceans.
The kick-off of the project is a documentary road movie that shows the 7 main problems of the oceans in the 7 seas, but also the beauties that they offer. This resulted in 7 short films that were broadcast worldwide.
With the help of the films and their media presence on TV, radio, print and online, sponsorship money and donations are collected.
7 Oceans wants to support organisations, companies and private individuals who implement sustainable projects to preserve the oceans.
In an international, annual gala, the best and most sustainable of these projects are honored and their implementation is supported with prize money.
Environmental protection and in particular marine protection are a very topical issue worldwide. Many governments - but also the European Commission - have taken on this problem. Even the UN has declared this decade to be the decade of “Ocean Science for Sustainable Development”.
