D-ribose is a natural sugar, a monosaccharide with five carbon atoms (pentose sugar). It is the central component of nucleotides - the components from which DNA and RNA are formed - as well as substances essential for cellular metabolism such as ATP, cAMP, NAD, FAD and coenzyme A.
Ribose can be formed from glucose in the body under normal circumstances, but it is a relatively slow process . This ribose is converted into energy in the cells by activating and stimulating ATP production . ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule that stores and delivers energy. It is the energetic basis for all cellular processes.
ATP molecules form a kind of battery for our cells , so that the required energy supply is optimally guaranteed, especially for our body functions and daily activities.
