The jungle pepper grows on large trees and is not related to the common bush pepper. In the southern parts of Vietnam and Cambodia it is used as a spice and medicine. It has a lemon note and is not spicy, but has more bitter substances.

The jungle pepper grows on large trees and is not related to the common bush pepper. In the southern parts of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand it is used as a spice and medicine. It has a lemony note and is not spicy, but has a lot of bitter substances. If you let it melt in your mouth, it warms you up and gives you an explosion of flavor.

It is used in:

  • Numbness in the extremities (e.g. when waking up in the morning)
  • bone and joint pain
  • Fever
  • Weakness during stress or after illness
  • cold, energy loss
  • digestive problems

External use for:

  • insect bites and snake bites for detoxification
  • eczema
  • open wounds
  • acne and impure skin
  • knee pain

For seasoning and flavoring, 3 to a maximum of 5 grains are sufficient. For other applications, up to 20 grains can be chewed well and taken throughout the day or all at once. For joint pain, the crushed pepper can be wrapped warmly around the affected joint as a bandage.
